We will be holding a star party at the Orange County Astronomer's Kuhn Telescope in Anza, Ca (45 min east of Temecula). The festivities will kick off with a pot-luck BBQ at 5 PM, followed by science presentations while we are waiting for sunset. When it gets dark enough, we will point the giant Kuhn 22" telescope at many interesting places, showing closeup detail of the Milky Way, and even look at the spot where we think a black hole exists (of course, being black, we won't be able to see it, but a least we can say we looked where we think it is). We will also be looking at planets, galaxies, nebulae, and the moon.

Participants are encouraged to wear a white lab coat. You can order one online here. We can iron on an official Cosmos Research Center Insignia if you like. We will also iron on an Anza Star Party badge for each scientist who attends. If you don't want to bring a lab coat, we can iron the insignias on a white T-Shirt instead.

We also suggest that you bring a notebook and a flashlight (with a red plastic cover, if possible). Good scientists take lots of notes of their observations, so that they can refer to them later.
We will also turn the giant telescope to Pluto to compare it to the brilliant Jupiter, Saturn, or Venus.

We encourage scientists to talk about astronomy - maybe about a favorite planet, or some report they did in school. We will have an LCD projector if they want to show pictures or a PowerPoint.
The Star party will be held at the Orange County Astronomers' site near Anza, Ca. about 45 minutes east of Temecula. For more information, contact Tom@munnecke.com
